Network TopologiesWhenever there is an talk about business that uses more than one computer, computer networking comes into play. Computer networking is the technique used to interconnect number of computers with each other. It is the computer networking due to which large number of features could be possible. These includes file sharing, Printer sharing, messaging, Remote access, Back up your data, web browsing, emailing etc. To fulfill these, technologies like computer hardware, network operating system and network hardware are required. Depending upon the area to be covered Network can be categorized as PAN, LAN, CAN, MAN, WAN. Talk of networking without topologies is useless.Topology is the networks virtual shape which might be different from its physical shape. Basic topologies are bus, ring, star, tree, mesh. Now-a-days, hybrid of two or more topologies are in use. These includes Star-bus, Extended star, Star-wired ring, Hybrid mesh. There is a term called Redundant topologies these are the topologies that make sure that on failure of single node (computer), the rest of the systems in the network should work properly. Network based on switches or bridges have redundant link between those switches and bridges which reduces the effect for failure. Due to which if any node in the network does not work, it will not affect the rest of the system.
